Trouble Shooting Lift Problems

The Number 1 issue causing service problems with boat lifts is "NEGLECT." It's not necessarily by design, but because we all have too much to do, and servicing a boatlift is not on the top of your hit parade.

We'd much rather go fishing or boating.

Most manufacturers recommend that you perform the following:
1. Approximately every 6 months, the bearings and pulleys should be greased with marine grade grease.
2. Visually inspect the lifting cables regularly for any broken strands (cable fray). If cable fray is noted, notify your dealer.
3. Spray cables with lubricant periodically. Spray all motor parts and pulleys with a corrosion preventative lubricant at least twice a year.
4. Check the alignment on motor, pulley and lift every 6 months.

While not monumental tasks, servicing of lifts often gets put by the wayside. For that reason, Smart Docks has developed a Semi-Annual Service Program to perform all the above tasks twice a year. We will come out, grease all available grease fittings, clean, check the alignment on your pulley/lift systems and perform a general inspection of your lift and dock for possible future problems. We will perform simple alignment if no parts are needed.

*The above program includes greasing all available fittings, cleaning of debris from your motor areas and top frames, checking the alignment on all motor/pulley/lift systems, plus a general inspection of your lift and dock to prevent future problems. Any problems repaired beyond the above will be extra. We will notify you prior to any additional repairs being performed.

An Annual Two Year Service Agreement must be signed to qualify. Offer good within 15 miles of 613 Porpoise Drive, Aransas Pass, Texas. Additional mileage will be billed at $ .60 per mile.
